Raising hands for dua and then wiping the face.

Some Wahabis say raising hands for dua and wiping them on face is bidah. Let us look proofs in this regard.

Imam Ibn Hajar al Asqalani (rah) narrates and says in Bulugh al Maram:

Umar (RAA) narrated, ‘When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raised his hands in supplication, he did not lower them till he wiped his face with them.’ Related by At-Tirmidhi.

There are other traditions, which support this narration, of which is:

The Hadith narrated by Ibn ’Abbas (RAA) related by Abu Dawud and others.PUT TOGETHER, THEY CONFIRM THAT IT IS HASAN.
Bulugh al Maram # 1596, 1597

The Mujaddad Imam Jalal ud - din -Suyuti (rah) also said :

Translation: The narrators of this Hadith are those of "Sahih" except for Hammad, who is an "UPRIGHT SHEIKH" but (also declared) Daeef, however there are “witnesses (corroborating evidences)” present for this hadith and thus it becomes "HASAN" and in some versions of Tirimdhi he has called it "SAHIH" [As- Suyuti in Raf al Yaddain fil Dua, #12]

Here are some more Shawahid from eminent Sahaba.

Translation: Wahb (ra) said: I saw Ibn Umar (ra) and Ibn Zubayr (ra) supplicating together and after it rubbing their hands"ON THE FACE" [Imam Bukhari in Al Adab ul Mufrad, ,Hadith # 609]

Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rah) decalred it “Sound” in Thalath Ras’ail [Page No. 93]

There is also a Mursal Sahih hadith from Zuhri in this regard narrated from Prophet (Peace be upon him) raising his hands till chest and then wiping face with both hands. After narrating it Imam Abdur Razzaq (rah) said:

I sometimes see Ma'amar do this and I also act on it. (See Musannaf Abdur Razzaq # 3234

Imam Ibn al Jazri (rah) In Hisn Hiseen the famous book written on authentic Supplications, It states in the Adaab ad- Dua (i.e. Etiquettes of making dua) section: After completing the dua one should wipe his face with his hands [Al Hisnul Hiseen, Page No. 25]

Many other scholars acted on it and also endorsed it.
